NO SIGN OF HUGH!!!

NottingHill & Portobello Market ~ ALL pics taken 7/24/10

JPE & I walked the length of the Portobello Market (5-6 blocks) in NottingHill today!!

No sign of Hugh Grant or Julia Roberts coming out of the
TRAVEL BOOKSTORE...

If you went to the Portobello Market
what would you BUY?

A beaded purse?
 A "dust-collector" for your bookcase?
some sausage for your dinner?
antique silverware?
a souvenir t-shirt?
a stem of "perfect" tomatoes
or some billiard balls?

WE BOUGHT....
these "luscious" pears...

AND
a souvenir magnet of a
LONDON PHONE BOOTH!

(oh!! some postcards, antique buttons, &
cherries, grapes & bananas)

We ATE...
German bratwurst w/grilled onions
Y-U-M-M-Y!!
(NO fish n' chips yet!?)

  1. Looks fascinating...how are you finding the prices? I probably would have made a bee-line for the silver.

  2. it's expensive - I don't know where the women shop here but everyone wears gauzy skirts, camisoles, over-blouses, adorable flats or incredibly high, spiky heels... the window shopping in the area we are looking is interesting... I suppose they might have a store that is similar to Target, Ross, Marshall's for clothing themselves & their families...
Lots of scarves - wrapped loosely around their necks - it makes me sweat to even see something close to the neck (humidity is something that causes me anxiety - kidding! but I definitely get grouchy the warmer I get).
Lovely antiques - I loved the odd assortment of vendors and their "wares" - I got scolded at a stand for trying to take a pic of baked pastries - no pics if you don't buy... we didn't buy...
    more later...
