WEEKWORD = FLAVOR...

My blogs were feeling stale so I visited Aimee's blog, artsyville for some inspiration.

I love her creative process & her art makes me smile!

She participates in "WEEKWORD" & asked bloggers to submit something that would signify their interpretation of the word:

FLAVOR

I wanted to understand more about "WEEKWORD" so I checked in with the person who originated this idea, and this is what I learned...

started a creative prompt called weekword, 

much like illustration friday, 

but open to any kind of interpretation - 
photography, poetry, art, deep thoughts, randon neuron firings"

AIMEE's selected word ~ FLAVOR ~ was to be further identified by answering these questions....

• what is your favorite hot spot for breakfast?
• where is it?
• what sort of dish?

JPE, Lydia & I just returned from a camping trip to Big Sur (coast of California; for those of you from another state)... If you camp, hopefully you will be able to reach into your memory bank... BUT, WE THINK the FLAVORS of food eaten in the outdoors is an "epicurean delight"...

the walls in my home =
yellow-gold (makes me feel warm)
sage-green (is calming)
light mocha (umm... hot cocoa)

clothes =
greens, blues, plum
(clothes are hung by color in my closet) 
white, black, grey & chocolate brown
(I consider these my "staples" ~ kind of like 
sugar, flour, salt & cinnamon)

celebrated her ?? birthday today!

umm... don't want to give away her age...

she was celebrating in Big Bear
with JMcG & friends!

Ms Lydia is on a trip to Cincinnati with her "Poppy" - visiting her grandparents there!

Went to the movies - JPE picked the movie

ECLIPSE (vampire movie)!

Liked it! didn't read the books!
left us hanging for the last movie!

not many people in the theater - probably all at the beach getting a space to watch the fireworks.

Watched the fireworks (Pismo Pier) show from the top of the hill by our house. Although there was FOG,

we could still see the majority of the show.

The "show master" mentioned that he would be aiming the fireworks "under the fog cover"...

No crowds to deal with!

Plenty to see!

Listened to houses around our 
"viewing perch" 

shoot off their explosive stash!

OLD-FASHION FUN!!

Most of day was spent researching, planning, and web-surfing for our coming London trip.

What is ONE site, museum, garden, town, store etc that we SHOULD NOT MISS when visiting London?

JPE made PLUM JAM this afternoon! 

He picked plums from his sister's backyard...

Technically they are NOT Japanese plums, 

we actually don't know what kind of plums they are

- so, we'll call them

Goleta Plums (the city of origin).

It's Friday ~ and we are

"happy as clams"

hanging at home this weekend.

No plans!

I heard the last jar lid "POP" - only task left is to

put labels on the finished product.

 I LOVE the smell of sweet peas!!

 the purple ones are my favorite color!

Some info about sweet peas...

It is believed that the first sweet pea seeds were harvested from the wild, by a monk living on the island of Sicily, then sent to an English schoolmaster in 1699.

The sweet peas we enjoy today were cultivated by English & Scottish horticulturalists to produce a larger, ruffly  flower, a stronger fragrance and a wider variety of colors.

American seed companies discovered that the cool, mild coastal area near Lompoc, California was ideally suited for sweet pea seed production. Currently, most of our American sweet pea seeds are still produced in this area.

It's best to gather sweet peas in the morning 
when the dew is still on them. 
This is when their fragrance is the sweetest.

 

GOAL:

sweet peas next year!
