A BERRY KIND OF DAY!

(pic taken 4/17/10 - JPE's Strawberries)

STRAWBERRY TRIVIA...

A strawberry has, on average, 200 seeds.

If all the strawberries produced in California, in one year, were laid berry to berry, they'd wrap around the world 15 times.

Strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside. It is argued that for this reason, it cannot be considered a real berry, since berries carry seeds on the inside.

Ninety-four percent of U.S. households consume strawberries at least once a year.

Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen in spring.

I ate strawberries for breakfast
(pear, sliced strawberries, yogurt
& Mom's homemade granola)
& dinner (strawberries & Joe's O's).

HOW DO YOU EAT YOUR STRAWBERRIES?

  1. We eat ours...

warmed by the sun and straight off the plant while we sit outside in the garden...

    on waffles and pancakes...

    in jams and syrups...

    by the flat.

  2. I eat my strawberries anyway I can get them. However, a mound of berries on shortcake with pouring cream is hard to beat.
