hilarious book about breastfeeding

One of our RANDOM "finds"... some laugh-out-loud information about breastfeeding!! This might make you think I don't support breastfeeding... but it should be noted that I breastfed both of my daughters until they were almost 2 years of age. We couldn't help laughing at this silly cartoon, "Bad time to breastfeed"...

I've seen plenty of cardboard reindeer heads, but this is my "first" cardboard sheep. What a novel, FUN way to display skeins of yarn. Allie would love-love-love the yarn in this store...

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY 2.3.13

This week's SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY words were tricky... I was stumped... still am... but can't let a few words keep me from posting.

I think if you venture over to ASHLEY'S @ RAMBLING & PHOTOS, you'll find most of the participants had to "stretch" their imagination for this week's words: HIDDEN, PLAIN, LEFT, FAST & PEACE.

I just got back from a quick errand to the fabric store... the streets were BARE. I think everyone is "couched in front of their big screens" watching the SUPER BOWL...

HIDDEN

Have you checked out the Valentine candy? HIDDEN inside the wrapper of the Dove chocolates is a message. Love this one, "Take a moment for yourself." 

PLAIN

Ummm... this is hardly a PLAIN Valentine! CUTE, but glitzier than I'd make or purchase. 
 

LEFT

My favorite flavor? is on the LEFT... I love anything with peanut butter.

FAST

Screeching to a STOP! This bird was coming in FAST, but a it ended up being a rather smooth landing...

PEACE

When I drive the back road to work, I pass a Benedictine Monastery... It's located on a 40 acre ranch on the edge of the Cuesta College Community College campus. A place of PEACE, beautiful landscape & love-ly weather.

 Boy, do I ever have a Bah-Humbug mood!

We won't have any visitors during the month of December, so I told JPE I wanted to skip putting out decorations this year. That's just NOT like me - so, I thought if I looked around on some blogs I would get inspired to "decorate low-scale". I ran across FUNKYTIME Magazine (an online mag) & everything in this issue looks so cheery & bright.

I'm thinking about trying the Christmas Garland & Chocolate on a Stick... What will you try?

There's talk of this tradition happening soon...

No time to plan my photo shoots this week... this was a quick, down & dirty, short-time project (35 minutes)...


I won't say I love what I'm posting, but it was FUN ~ once I set the timer)... Enjoy these words: 

ROUTINE, MUSIC, TECHNOLOGY, SHOW ME YOUR STYLE & MISMATCH.

ROUTINE

During the week, I rarely deviate from my ROUTINE. My work bag, purse, shoes & lunch-bag leave with me every morning & arrive home with me every night (ready to be packed again)! Everyone at work takes a lunch because we'd have to drive 15 minutes to buy lunch, coffee or a snack. No corner coffee shop for us! ummm! that's great on the $$$ but can be boring.

Lucky for me, I often have meetings in the afternoon (off-site) which give me some flexibility in my ROUTINE. 

MUSIC

JPE has played MUSIC since he was a youngster! stand-up bass, guitar, and drums... In his work with high school students, he often starts a drum circle as a way to release some of their energy! JPE's a runner! he doesn't play his drum (or guitar) at home, but he often grabs his drum before heading to Men's Group... 

TECHNOLOGY

I consider myself pretty tech-savvy - but looking at the dining room table this morning, you might question that statement!
I LOVE my TECHNOLOGY (I-Phone, MacBook, I-Pod Touch) but I also LOVE my work calendar (with color coded meetings), my planner with tabs for the months, and my checkbook. 
I pay the majority of my bills online - but some items just need to be paid by check. AND, you probably remember my fond-ness for PAPER & PENS... 

SHOW ME YOUR STYLE!!

Well... the truth is... I DON'T have a STYLE! I'm one of those gals that is still trying to figure out how to dress stylish, but comfortably.
I dislike clothes shopping - seems like such a waste of time! My body is just not made for the style of clothes I see in magazines, online or in the stores. I'm certain there are quite a few of us non-fashionistas... but they don't seem to be designing clothes that are favorable to my budget, figure flaws & comfort...
SO - I'm SHOWING YOU MY PREFERRED STYLE... which is jeans, tshirts (sorry, I had to pull this out of the laundry basket), casual shoes, low-cut socks & a scarf to add color. Retirement clothes?? currently, weekend clothes!! ahhh! comfort clothes!

MISMATCHED

When I got home from work on Friday, I noticed I'd worn two MISMATCHED earrings! Honest mistake - easy to make! one is pearlized & the other has a flat finish. Both earrings change, depending on what color (purple, teal blue, gray) top I'm wearing! I don't buy expensive earrings... when I lose one, I just buy new ones. Perhaps if I got a nice little jewelry box, I'd lose fewer earrings? NOPE! I prefer to toss my earrings in that adorable red dish. AND, no, I don't store my earrings in a lemon! just a prop for photographing purposes.

Haven't posted much this week - more about that later!! Today is SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY & although I hadn't thought much about the hunt... I've managed to pull together a post.

LOVE

What a LOVE-LY surprise! On Thursday, there was a small package in the mail --- MOM gifted us a new set of pillowcases! They really "cozied-up" the guest bedroom - in fact, I've taken several naps in this room over the past four days! battling a FLU-BUG... I N.E.V.E.R nap, but these do make taking a nap LOVE-LY!! check out the bold HEARTS! 

DUPLICATED

A bit of RAIN this week... some scattered clouds... captured the moisture on this pair of flowers --- do you think this qualifies as an example of something DUPLICATED?

TRENDS / TRENDING

Ten years ago, I never would have predicted I'd be spending an afternoon break, sipping a coffee with my granddaughter, Lydia {currently an 8 year old}? I'm certainly N-O-T a trend-setter... BUT, JPE & I should have predicted this TREND based on the following picture of Lydia {dated January 2006, when she was 2}!

When kids are asked what they like about the book series... their response is:

PAPER

Last Sunday, on the way home from visiting mom, I stopped at my favorite scrapbooking store... Scraparazzi {Whittier, CA}.  OOPS! sorry Mom!! didn't tell you I was making this stop!  This store has amazing PAPER --- and I L-O-V-E PAPER!

In fact, quite often I use scrapbooking PAPER as the background for my pictures. You can see another glimpse of scrapbook PAPER as backgrounds in this picture or also here! scrapbook PAPER is also used here!

PLASTIC

Was looking for something in the garage --- remembered these were stored there!! wonder if Barbie is planning a trip to the beach for her Spring Break?? Maybe I should let her know she left these PLASTIC glasses & visors in my garage!!

It's embarrassing... LAUNDRY sits in the dryer, while I play Words with Friends. Poor quality picture... but I'm too distracted with my camera & new i-Phone! best get the sheets on the bed so JPE's not laying on just the mattress pad.

"EMPTY"

We got a tin of homemade cookies from Patty! Her stash was lovingly baked by her mother, Olina... I didn't get around to baking my cut-out Christmas cookies this year {deleted from my to-do-list when I was recuperating from my sinus infection}... so, these were a welcome addition to our afternoon tea time! YUMMY! all that's left --- an EMPTY tin.

"ONE DOZEN"

Actually, ONE DOZEN x four... 48 ZIG ColorTwin Markers. A Christmas present from SLE & ACE!

The Zig colored markers came in this cute suitcase with a black handle on top! I'm pretty obsessed with these pens & have blogged about them HERE & also, HERE.

"SOFT"

ummm... a SOFT pillow! {pillowcase blog post HERE}... my bed is calling me! But, before I head to bed...

THE HEAT'S ON...

I've been out of the office quite a bit this week - facilitating & attending meetings, working on projects, and taking care of business. In my absence, the office had an "elf visit" that left his/her creative touches all over!

Oh! JPE landed at LAX... leaving to pick him up at his sister's (85 minutes south of us). Love that I didn't have to drive to LAX (4+ hours on a Friday afternoon = dismal!!)... 


FINAL NOTE: The heater's been repaired.... blown circuit board.

PURPLE

Shades of PURPLE! from craft paper, to my favorite ZIG markers, to my MacBook (with PURPLE cover), to my favorite bracelet ("60 Pearls of Wisdom" ~ handmade by ACE to commemorate my 60th birthday)... PURPLE is a dominant color in my life & wardrobe.

IN DISGUISE

IN DISGUISE ~ Part 2

Didn't seem fair to share my IN DISGUISE picture without giving you a better glimpse at what you are looking at! Look what I found in my garden shoes... a lovely, yellow furry caterpillar. 

SHAPES

I'm a curvy person! YEP! a curvy body too! anything circular, round, oval, swirly, or a SHAPE that resembles motion is bound to be photographed!  

PHOTOGRAPHER'S CHOICE

This photo is not that unique ~ but it's symbolic for me! I took this on my morning walk today... 9 months ago I broke the 5th metatarsal in my left foot & I'm finally back to my "loop walk" (up a steep incline, a gradual climb, a flat area & through the K-Mart Shopping Center, across a bridge & one more parking lot - then we're home = 45 minutes)... whew!

My PHOTOGRAPHER'S CHOICE was taken at the beginning of the steep incline, when I stopped to tighten my shoe laces!
