Yes, a day that is more appreciated by elementary school students. A chance to wear your clothes BACKWARDS, or eat dessert before your dinner, or write cryptic notes to friends.

Not sure what I plan to do? but here are a couple of pictures from my archives... the first showing our last name spelled BACKWARDS.

Of course, it's BACKWARDS for Americans to look to the left before crossing the street. Fortunately, England helps us by painting a reminder on major street crossings... LOOK to the Left.

Enjoy spending your day doing things in reverse or BACKWARDS...

HAVE YOU PLAYED WITH WORDLE? OR HOW ABOUT PICNIK?
I spent some time playing with WORDLE and figuring out some possibilities for using it in the classroom. (who says teachers take the summers off?)

WORDLE can be used to generate "WORD CLOUDS from the text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text."


FYI - All of my samples include the SAME WORDS...

You can scramble the words, and create a new look...

black background is difficult to read! looks impressive though!

You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.

PICNIK was used to add borders to a couple of my WORDLE.

PICNIK an online photo-editing program is simple to use... add frames, graphics... WELL, you just have to check out PICNIK also...

The idea for my list came from my favorite Swedish blogger, BENITA @ CHEZ LARSSON. 

For List-It Tuesday, I listed the Name Days for my immediate family members... In some countries a person celebrates a Name Day + a Birthday... 

Celebrating BIRTHDAYS is difficult for me (that "getting old" business is for the birds), so perhaps I'll change & begin a Name Day Celebration - instead of December, I would be celebrating July 24th (if I was in France) or the Germans would celebrate my Name Day on July 25th. Since I have Scotch, Irish, & English ancestry - I think I'll stick with JULY 25th...

Cute riddle, huh?

I spent 30 minutes watching this fellow, so I just HAD to share my favorite insect riddle.
 

BUT, this picture is not a TICK! Oh no... look again.

Halloween conjures up images of SPIDERS. Yesterday afternoon, I watched this SPIDER spinning its web next to the hummingbird feeder... such intricate web designs...

SOME SPIDER FACTS:

The decoration in the web of some orb-weaving SPIDERS serves a variety of purposes: it can be a warning so birds don't fly into the web; an attractant so insect-prey fly in on purpose; or an "um-brella" to shade the SPIDER from the hot sun.

Studies have shown that you're never more than TEN feet away from a SPIDER, and one estimate puts you as close as THREE feet. 

To be "SPIDER-free" you'd have to go into space in a fumigated capsule.

Aimee over at ARTSYVILLE put out a request to post a LIST... 

When I started blogging last December, I started an list of blog ideas... so I'm sharing it now. I actually forgot about the list - having stuck this away in my "pile of stuff" to look over when I have TIME (ha! time is precious!!)... I have been in a cleaning mood,  and  almost tossed everything in the pile... OOPS! 

Gotta run for now! BUNCO tonight! I haven't seen all my girlfriends since this summer. Bunco was canceled in September! I was in London for the August date!... WOW!! I miss those girls...
